On November 26, bauma CHINA 2024 (Shanghai International Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machinery, Mining Machinery, Engineering Vehicles and Equipment Expo, referred to as "Shanghai Bauma Exhibition") was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. This is the first time the exhibition has been held again after a lapse of 4 years.
This year's Shanghai Bauma Exhibition is themed "Chasing the Light and Encountering All Things Shining", with a total exhibition area of over 330,000 square meters, attracting 3,542 equipment companies from 32 countries and regions to participate in the exhibition, setting a historical record. Domestic leading manufacturers compete with internationally renowned companies on the same stage, presenting the technological innovation and new products of the world's construction machinery industry in all aspects.
"Green" and "Smart Manufacturing" have become keywords
This year's Shanghai Bauma Exhibition has set up 12 major display sections, including construction vehicles, earthmoving machinery, road machinery, lifting machinery, construction equipment, mining machinery, building materials machinery, transmission and fluids, construction vehicle accessories and intelligent solutions. The largest exhibition area for engineering vehicles and lifting machinery gathered domestic benchmark manufacturers including XCMG, Sany Group, Zoomlion, Shandong Lingong, Longgong, Shantui, China Railway Construction Heavy Industry, Dingli, and Lovol, jointly presenting the extraordinary strength and latest development achievements of Chinese engineering machinery companies. Internationally renowned companies such as Caterpillar, Wirtgen, Metso, and Terex also appeared with cutting-edge technologies and innovative products.
"Green" and "intelligent manufacturing" have become keywords. At the Zoomlion booth, visitors can watch on-site how unmanned excavators, unmanned skid loaders and other equipment complete tasks such as target grabbing and material transportation without human intervention, and understand how engineering machinery has gradually developed from simple tools to intelligent decision-making systems. It is reported that Zoomlion has deeply promoted the 4.0 and 4.0A innovation projects. At present, the company has launched more than 700 4.0 and 4.0A products equipped with digital, intelligent and green technologies.
Sany Group brought 68 host products to the show, with a host new product rate of up to 75%, including unmanned concept products. The unmanned concept excavator, smart mine, smart logistics, intelligent commercial vehicle, and compactor group displayed by Sany Group made the audience immersive in the unique charm of China's "smart manufacturing".
Caterpillar displayed 11 large, medium and small excavators and bulldozers, all with newly upgraded fuel efficiency and digital systems. For example, the newly upgraded NR4 Cat 355 large hydraulic excavator is equipped with a widened variable gauge chassis and a larger 4.5 cubic meter HD heavy bucket; the new generation Cat 301.7 CR mini excavator is equipped with compound action adjustable, cruise control and other functions and a liftable cab, etc., with higher production efficiency.

Internationalization is another highlight of this year's Shanghai Bauma Exhibition: more than 700 international brands participated in the exhibition; exhibition groups from Germany, Italy, Turkey and other countries appeared; more than 200,000 professional visitors and global buyers from more than 160 countries and regions visited the exhibition, and many international cooperations were achieved at the exhibition.
A Russian businessman stopped in front of a powerful bulldozer. He told reporters: "Very shocking! I want to fully understand and understand the product, and hope to introduce more new equipment to Russia."
According to data from the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, in the first half of 2024, China's construction machinery import and export trade volume was US$27.134 billion, and the export volume was US$25.837 billion. China's construction machinery industry has obvious competitive advantages in the international market.
Industry insiders said that the global construction machinery market is expanding and is expected to reach 1.5 trillion US dollars in 2025. China is the world's largest construction machinery market, accounting for more than one-third of the global market share.
